We are thrilled to announce a brand-new community partnership between Compassionate Behaviors, Mr. C's Voice, and Señor Panchos Mexican Grill in Prospect to bring families a Sensory-Friendly & Inclusive Dining Experience!

📅 Monday, August 10th

🕓 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

🌧 Rain Date: Wednesday, August 12th

Dining out should be something every family can enjoy. For many individuals with autism and other developmental, intellectual, sensory, and other disabilities, however, restaurants can sometimes feel overwhelming. Our goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where families can relax, enjoy a meal together, and feel accepted exactly as they are.

For this special event, guests will have access to the entire Señor Panchos restaurant—both indoors and outdoors. This gives families the flexibility to choose the environment that feels most comfortable for them while enjoying a fun evening together. While it is not a private event and other patrons will be dining at the restaurant, we specifically planned this event on lower patron volume days to reduce the additional stress a full restaurant may cause.

Throughout the event, trained staff and volunteers from Compassionate Behaviors and Mr. C's Voice will be available to provide support as needed. Whether it's helping families navigate the environment, assisting with communication, or simply offering encouragement, our teams are excited to help make this a positive experience for everyone.

To help create a comfortable and successful dining experience, we've worked together to make thoughtful accommodations throughout the evening, including:

  • 💡 Lower lighting throughout the restaurant
  • 🎵 Reduced background music to create a calmer atmosphere
  • 🎧 Noise-reducing headphones
  • 🧩 Fidgets
  • 🌈 Sensory bins and tools
  • ☀️ Outdoor movement activities
  • 💬 Communication boards
  • 📖 Visual menus
  • ❤️ Compassionate Behaviors and Mr. C's Voice team members available throughout the event to provide support as needed

These accommodations are designed to create a calmer, more predictable environment where individuals and families can relax, enjoy a meal together, and feel welcomed and supported.

Our hope is that this event is more than just dinner—it's an opportunity for families to connect with one another, build community, and enjoy a night out knowing they are welcomed, supported, and understood. By partnering with Señor Panchos and Mr. C's Voice, we're working together to help make our community more inclusive—one meal, one family, and one connection at a time.

This event is open to children, teens, and adults with a variety of disabilities, along with their families and caregivers. Whether this is your first time attending a sensory-friendly event or you're a familiar face in our community, we can't wait to welcome you.

At Compassionate Behaviors and Mr. C's Voice, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to participate fully in their community. We are honored to partner with Señor Panchos to make dining out more accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for all.

We'd Love to Know You're Coming!

As we get closer to Halloween, I wanted to share some tips for Halloween and Trick-or-Treating. If you think about it, Halloween is kind of a strange holiday. We spend all year telling our kids that it’s not safe to take candy from strangers, let alone talk to them and yet, for one night, it’s completely socially appropriate and encouraged! Changes in schedules or expectations for children on the Autism Spectrum can be confusing, stressful, or even scary!

When I was in college preparing to be a Special Education Teacher, I was given the poem below by one of my supervising teachers. It is a poem I have read multiple times throughout my career and often try to think about when I work with families, especially those who have recently received a diagnosis of Autism for their child.
